Upcoming concert to be EPIC

Many hours of work will pay off in a great performance this Tuesday November 8th. Beethoven and Stravinsky shares the stage as these talented students set their sights on two iconic works that influenced music from pop the cinema.

Beethoven's Egmont Overture is the opening to the play, Egmont, by Goethe. It was first premiered in 1810 and now, 206 years later, VCS Radio Symphony puts it's fresh perspective on this exciting and instantly recognizable work.

Stravinsky's Firebird Suite is a collection of music composed for  a Ballet of the same name. This 1919 version is the most performed version.

I.   Introduction—The Firebird and its dance—The Firebird's variation
II.  The Princesses’ Khorovod (Rondo, round dance)
III.  Infernal dance of King Kashchei
IV. Berceuse (Lullaby)
V.  Finale

Video Games Live - We could compare the night's concert to a three course meal. If Beethoven in the appetizer and Stravinsky is the main course, Video Games Live is certainly the desert! Clearly calling on it's predecessors, this is a fine example of the influence the great masters still have on today's music scene.
